Night Time Lights

Here are a few recent photos I took at night in the Disney area. The first one is at the Disney Boardwalk, and the second is a photo I snapped of the Illuminations fireworks show at Epcot. I really love working with contrasting lighting.

Animal Kingom: Water Fountains, Tigers, and Tibetan Prayer Flags

There are a few random objects that I like to photograph frequently: lamp posts, lanterns, balloons, bees, water fountains, and things that look aged. Older objects always have stories, and if you don’t know the specific story, you can always make one up. I like creating photos where the objects seem like they might have interesting stories. Photographs that make me want to imagine a story make me the happiest.

Since I’m a local to the Walt Disney World area, I frequently go into the theme parks to take photos. I really love bringing my camera to those places because they have an abundance of those random objects that I like to take pictures of.

Although Epcot is my favorite park to spend time in, Animal Kingdom is my favorite to take photos in. The folks at Disney have gone to great lengths to theme the various areas as places where the animals are from. I particularly like the Asian area where the tigers are. Besides the tigers, there are stone carvings and Tibetan prayer flags.

Here are some photos of the water fountains, tigers, and Tibetan prayer flags from my last trip.

Bell shaped water fountain at Disney's Animal Kingdom
I just love this water fountain. It’s nestled in a shaded area, and children love to stick their hands in it. I’m an adult, and I like to stick my hands in it when I’m not holding my camera.

Unique water fountain at Animal Kingdom theme park in Orlando, FL
I couldn’t help getting closer to it. The shape of the water is very intriguing.

Asian tiger in captivity at Animal Kingdom in Lake Buena Vista, FL
I consider myself lucky to have been this close to a tiger. She was only a few yards from the glass. They don’t like to come out when the weather starts getting warm. They just hide in the shade.

This tiger had the right idea, hanging out in the shade, thinking about a nap.

These are the Tibetan prayer flags that are hanging near the tiger area at Animal Kingdom.

Sun shining through strands of Tibetan prayer flags
I love the way the sun shines through these flags.

I hope you enjoyed viewing these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. Thanks for taking the time to check out my photography!

Celebration, Florida Photography

My husband and I like to go exploring together to find new places to explore, but we also have our favorite places to visit, and one of them is the beautiful town of Celebration, Florida, located minutes from Walt Disney World in Florida. We both work out that way, and enjoy stopping in after work to walk around or grab a quick bite to eat. It was a planned community, and there are so many scenic areas. It’s very hard for me to leave my camera at home, knowing we are going for a visit.

These particular photos, however, are from a trip I took there with my mother. She just got a DSLR, and asked me to give her a private photography lesson to teach her how to use the camera. She had a lot of fun learning about photographing flowing water sources, spot metering, and what all the dials and buttons on her camera actually do.

Please enjoy these photos. :)

2012 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival

Over the weekend, my husband and I visited the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival. I was shooting with my macro lens, but didn’t always have a dedicated lens for macro photography, which inspired me to post the tutorial about macros.

Part of what made these photos so fun, was that I had the opportunity to make some new Lightroom presets!

Here are some of the other photos from this particular visit. I’m sure there will be many more for the duration of the festival!
